The Republican National Convention in St. Paul on Monday had extremes. It started off with The March on the RNC, which was estimated to be 10,000 strong.

It started at the Capitol, continued into downtown St. Paul, and then crossed over the freeway again to end up back at the Capitol, a total of 20 city blocks long.

MSSA rejects school alcohol procedure

In a unanimous vote, the Minnesota State Student Association decided to oppose the procedural change regarding on-campus punishments for off-campus alcohol and drug violations.

The proposal, presented last week by Vice President of Student Affairs Patricia Swatfager-Haney and Director of Student Rights and Responsibilities Mary Dowd, stated that university would receive arrest records from Mankato police and compare them to student lists.

Former BVU student sentenced to jail

Former Buena Vista University(BVU) student Kyle Payne was sentenced Monday afternoon by District Court Judge Don Courtney to serve time in the Buena Vista County Jail for invasion of privacy.

Payne was arrested in February and pleaded guilty in June to the invasion of privacy charges and the second degree attempted burglary charge.
