A Phone Call from Iraq

It is 12:20 in the morning and dusty. Very dusty. Doug Simon, professor of political science, who plans to be back in the States this summer, calls to talk about his experiences in Iraq as a Brigade Judge Advocate or JAG officer. "You know, it's going to be a long nine months and it's going to be very busy," Simon said upon arriving in Iraq.

Residential Appreciation Week

Southwest Minnesota State University recently supported Residential Appreciation Week (RAW) in which the Residential Assistants (RAs) held events to appreciate their residents. On Monday, April 13, residents were woken up at 6:30 in the morning with the pounding on doors, bells, whistles, air horns and chanting.

Buddhist Meditation and Dharma Talk

"Buddhism is the science of mind," said Hans Schumacher, Director of the Minneapolis Nyingma Group on April 21, 2009, held at 7p.m. at the Campus Religious Center, the evening included meditation and dharma talk hosted by Schumacher. Schumacher has visited many countries, such as Tibet, Nepal, India and Brazil, practicing Buddhism for over 20 years.
