Greetings! I hope you had a relaxing mid-semester break and are ready for the last half of the semester. Despite not meeting during mid-semester break, the SMSUSA Senate has been working on a variety of projects and student issues. I will touch on those in the following, but first I'd like to congratulate Public Relations Coordinator Torrie Ward for her excellent work on the Southwest Minnesota State University Blood Drive.
Advising takes place next week, but for students at SMSU, advising may be filled with more stress than advice

Next week begins the semester ritual of advising. But Southwest Minnesota State University students may end up with much more stress than advice. Though most students usually only feel the effect of a bad economy in their wallet, especially when it comes to paying tuition, this year the effect will be seen in the course list as well.

Today I came to school and my pumpkins were smashed for the fifth week in a row.
I asked my mom why someone keeps breaking our pumpkins and all she can say is they are being mean and must never have had a garden growing up. Well, I would like to share how fun it was to plant our pumpkin seeds last spring, then transplant them into my grandpa's old horse pasture.

"I'm too busy" seems to be the fashionable excuse for slacking off. There was once a time when you could say "I'm just too busy" and life was peachy. That paper could wait until tomorrow, and so could the dishes, laundry and speech. You could hold off on a class until another semester, avoid clubs or school events without worry.
