Career night for Peschong leads Mustangs

On a night when Southwest Minnesota State guard Andrew Peschong was recognized for a career of unselfish play, it was his heroic, assertive shot late in the game that might be remembered most.
Peschong became SMSU's all-time leader in career assists Friday during the Mustangs' 71-67 victory over Bemidji State on Hawaiian Night.

Southwest Minnesota State University 1-1 on the weekend…The SMSU wrestling team went 1-1 in a pair of road duals over the weekend.
No. 6 Upper Iowa beat SMSU 35-12 on Friday. Brandan Schunk and Brian Rodas were the only Mustangs to win their bouts in the meet.
Men and women swept

The Southwest Minnesota State University men and women took a two-game road trip on Jan. 22 and 23 to Augustana (S.D.), then Wayne State (Neb.).
Poor shooting was a continuing story for both Mustang squads over the trip, as each team was swept.

The Southwest Minnesota State women's basketball team answered its recent three-game slide by starting a new win streak.
SMSU first beat Minnesota, Duluth 75-71 on Friday, then topped Bemidji State 73-63 Saturday on Hawaiian Night.
In the win over Bemidji, Miley Hunziker scored a career-high 18 points.
