A Cheesy Ending

Issue date: 4/29/09 Section: Commentary
Madonna once told us "Time is a precious thing." This year, especially, people around the world have witnessed the true meaning in Madonna's lyrics.
Not to say that Madonna had intuitive inspiration in the 80s when she performed "Like a Prayer" but these words are especially true these days and, they're especially for college students who every day spend their precious time learning something that will hopefully be useful in their future.
The fact is, each and every day more news is printed arguing whether or not companies will be able to afford hiring anyone. And with the cost of education who honestly hasn't wondered if college is really worth it in the end? Or if it's worth it, is it worth the $40,000 debt by graduation?
Now that each of you had at least almost one year of college under your belt, I'm sure you've been asked and have been forced to think about your future. And although the stress of finals might have you rethinking your future, the important thing to remember is that college is meant to be an investment
in yourself.
So while right now it might seem easiest to give up on finals and get ready for a fun field summer, remember that your time is now. Each moment invested now is precious and will have an everlasting affect on your future.
Time is precious, take it from Madonna, and spend the next week wisely. Remember, the secret to conquering finals stress is an equal amount of time with friends, time with books and time with your pillow.
Good luck on finals and have a wonderful summer!
