RHA Update
Jay Benedict
Issue date: 2/3/10 Section: Commentary
This week, in a proposal by the Facilities and Issues committee, RHA will be taking a vote as to whether or not the organization will support having a ban against tobacco on the property of Residential Life.
The issue received an overwhelming backing to go smoke free in a survey conducted this past semester by RHA, showing over 71 percent of students surveyed living in the Residence Halls support such a ban. We will be voting on the motion this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Upper CC Ballroom. If you have a strong opinion on the topic please contact either your House Representative or RA as they are going to be casting the official vote.
The house representatives will be going around their houses with an official petition asking students to indicate their preference.
Another issue that was voted on was a motion to support a motion that would allow co-ed living in the foundation Apartments. In a unanimous vote the general body supported the motion and I will be contacting the director of Residence Life.
As you can tell, we have a lot going for RHA and I hope we are making living on campus better!
